2011 Jan 26 - Psalms 109 - Andy

Dear all,

Love to share convictions to you all!

Actually I don't quite fully understand this Psalm, if you have any insight, feel free to share (by emails or on Sundays)

Psalms 109   Dealt with persecution/ weaknesses

It is a Psalms very hard to understand. The key confusion occurs between v 6 - 19, where it is not clearly indicated whether the words are from David or as the additional information added "They said".

Search in the internet and the results cannot answer my questions, some of them just put them bibically into "The consequence of sinners" @@, I find it soooooo annoying as the consquence are somehow in a humanistic way, opposes to what God has said "The son will not share the guilt of the father, nor will the father share the guilt of the son" (Ezekiel 18:20)
Some assume that it was said by David.

If the words are from David, what I can say is that David is so real to God that he expresses his true feeling before God. However, I cannot understand why he will pass this Pslam to the director of music, which means openly critizing. (Quite different from David's characters).

(The above two are only my views, please make your own judgement, and I cannot sure whether the views are 100% correct or not)

So, I assume that the words are from the enemy of David. So we can see that David is being hurt deeply, as he remembered what they said so clear, and the accuses are so terrible and serious, such as desendants be cut off......

When David in such hurts and persecution, he choses not to revenge by himself, but seek God for help.
He used prayers (v4) and fast (v24), to find power to deal with them righteously and not by his own emotions.

We have known that David is a very emotional person, however, even in such case, he make more effort to let God's righteous way override his own emotion.

When dealing with persecution, would I be angry and try using some own ways to revenge, or give the feelings to God?

When I try to overcome our own weaknesses, would I imiatate David to make extra efforts, or just keep the weaknesses and complaining why I have this characters?

Need some time to reflect.   David is so superior! A super role-model.

Bye!

Love in Christ
Andy
