2011 Jan 25 - Psalm 108 - Andy

Dear all,

Thx Shelley's convictions, it is very true that we all rushing God's time, especially in Hong Kong, trying to improve "productivity" @@.

God train us during our enduring and longing processes, as His right time, that makes us feel more comfortable and secure, if we would surrender ourself.

Have a good morning too, pray with AI, but I feel a bit cold actually. Today, I would like to copy the whole chapter of Psalm 108 here.

Psalm 108    A song. A psalm of David.
 1 My heart, O God, is steadfast;
   I will sing and make music with all my soul.
2 Awake, harp and lyre!
   I will awaken the dawn.
3 I will praise you, LORD, among the nations;
   I will sing of you among the peoples.
4 For great is your love, higher than the heavens;
   your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
   let your glory be over all the earth.

 6 Save us and help us with your right hand,
   that those you love may be delivered.
7 God has spoken from his sanctuary:
   “In triumph I will parcel out Shechem
   and measure off the Valley of Sukkoth.
8 Gilead is mine, Manasseh is mine;
   Ephraim is my helmet,
   Judah is my scepter.
9 Moab is my washbasin,
   on Edom I toss my sandal;
   over Philistia I shout in triumph.”

 10 Who will bring me to the fortified city?
   Who will lead me to Edom?
11 Is it not you, God, you who have rejected us
   and no longer go out with our armies?
12 Give us aid against the enemy,
   for human help is worthless.
13 With God we will gain the victory,
   and he will trample down our enemies.

(Emphases added)

David is one of those who treasure relationship with God most, and surely learnt a lot in his Psalm.

The Psalm inspires me that when God has rejected David (v11), what and how David responses.
(Actually, I cannot recall which Battle David lose, when fighting other countries, if someone have information about which battle David refers to, please share about it.)

In such situation, David prays and write this Psalm, you can see how proactive David is, trying to do more to have relationship with God. In V1-2, He tries to stay firm to his belief on God's promise, and even make radical quiet time!

Dawn: the first appearance of daylight in the morning  (dictionary.com)

He chooses to awake the Dawn (NOT awaken by the Dawn), it just let me think of what Shelley did today, and Brenda's sunrise prayers.

And then in the Psalm, he is sure that God will fulfill his promise!

It makes me reflect on how I react when something I expected for has not been answered and fulfilled. In the first stage, I would patiently wait, then I will wait without any hope, eventually trying to downgrade by expectation and even did not expect for it any more.

eg. Bombs in fdship would downgrade my expectation in the fdship,
or praying for someone n dept will get baptise (I did not expect it anymore),
or praying for personal fruitful eventually becomes "I am grateful if there is one person get baptized in BT",
and the dream of becoming a staff in church (fear to expect about it now)

Is there any dreams, you have dreamed for, but eventually give up?

I would like to imitate David, and try to put back those dreams in my prayer and give it to God, pray back for it!

For God has also promised us, in John 10:10b
"I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
人子來,是要叫人 (羊) 得生命,並且得的更豐盛。

Also end with a quote in the spiritual book currently reading - The Dream Giver BY Bruce Wilkinson (author of The Prayer of Jabez 雅比斯的禱告)

"I still don't feel worthy on able to do my Dream, but the Dream Giver has promised to help me" <<Ch. 2 Ordinary leaves his comfort zone>>
So he walks few steps forward of getting the Big Dream.

2011 Jan 25 - Ecclesiastes 3 - Shelley

A right time for everything

Ecclesiastes 3:11 'He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has
also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom whta
God has doen from beginning to end.'

 Goodmorning all,

Had a good start to my morning. God woke me up this time before 6am,
before my alarm clock went off! I went for a 20 minute jog around Ma
Wan. The air was more fresh than ever today it was good for my soul.

Today's reading is so close to my heart this week as this whole
chapter 3 is talking about how there is a time for every activity
under the sun. He has made everything beautiful in its time.

I think
sometime our human tendency (habit) is to want to rush God's time on
something we think is a need we want fulfilled but in God's eyes it's
important that it is developed over time and not necessarily when we
want it to happen. As over time our love and conviction mature and
develops.

My heart rests in peace as I know my future is entirely in
God's keeping! I am surrendered and have to continue to surrender on a
daily basis to give all my needs and concerns to him about my future.
God is in complete control and he always works everything out for our
best interests. We need to wait on Him and rely on Him more to reveal
things to us in His own divine timing.

2 Peter 3:8 'With the Lord a
day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.'

I hope this encourages all of us to wait on God to act and for God to
reveal what is best for our futures.
